Erin Kendall Braun, PhD is a Memory Expert, Speaker & Consulant based in New York City.

Expert Witness

As a cognitive neuroscientist, I serve as an expert witness in criminal and civil cases where memory accuracy or reliability is under scrutiny. My work draws on decades of research into how memories are formed—and how they can be distorted. I provide rigorous, scientifically grounded analysis and testimony, with particular expertise in eyewitness memory and eyewitness identification. Whether consulting behind the scenes or testifying in court, I clarify the science of memory—its mechanisms, its vulnerabilities, and its relevance to legal questions of reliability and perception.

Speaking & Workshops

I speak on the intersection of cognitive science and the law, translating complex research into presentations that are accurate, engaging, and practical. From keynotes and CLE lectures to interactive workshops, I partner with organizations to explore topics like memory, misremembering and the law; the effects of stress on memory; challenges of eyewitness identification; and memory issues in children. I also design custom programs tailored to your specific goals. I welcome opportunities to speak to attorneys, investigators, law enforcement agencies, judges, and law students.

Consulting

Some of my favorite projects don’t fit neatly into a category. I collaborate with individuals and organizations tackling interesting, meaningful problems—whether that’s developing science-informed tools for behavior change with startups, designing education programs for nonprofits, or serving as a science advisor on creative projects. My consulting combines deep expertise in how people learn, remember, and behave with strategic thinking, scientific insight, and curiosity. Every collaboration is shaped by the needs of the project.
